Task Cleaning vs Zone Cleaning

Cleaning is something that we all have to do. Whether we are cleaning our homes or office spaces there is always more than one way to get the job done. Today we will be explaining two different types of cleaning, you should choose the type that fits your needs the best.

Task Based Cleaning means taking one task and doing it in every room in the house before moving onto the next task.

It is important to remember while cleaning to work from top to bottom, as you don’t want to vacuum, then dust the counters and all that dust falls back onto your freshly cleaned floor.

Ceilings: Start by taking your broom and dusting along the ceiling, getting the cobwebs in the corners and anything you can't reach without needing a step ladder. Start in one room, and dust the ceiling in every room in the house/office.

Door Frames/Trim: Take a foxtail duster and knock the dust off the tops of door frames and the trim around the door.

Dust all surfaces: Take the time to go over every surface with a dry duster first, then go back over it with your polish/disinfectant and a microfiber cloth.

Sanitize all door handles/ light switches/ commonly touched areas: Take a disinfectant wipe and tackle all of the areas that everyone touches super often.

Sweep/Mop/Vacuum: The last thing you should do in every room is your floors. Whether it be sweeping and mopping a hardwood floor, or using a vacuum and steam cleaner on your carpets.

Zone Cleaning is when you break up your space into zones and tackle the clean that way. Your zones will look different depending on the type of space you are cleaning but most look something like this:

Homes

Zone 1: Kitchen and Laundry room

Zone 2: Bathrooms

Zone 3: Living rooms and foyer areas

Zone 4: Bedrooms, offices,  and hallways

Offices

Zone 1: Common areas/breakroom

Zone 2: Working area/desks

Zone 3: Bathrooms

Zone 4: Floors

Tackling your cleaning job in zones rather than in tasks can help if you don’t have time to do everything all at once, but want your space to still look presentable. Cleaning some is always better than cleaning nothing at all, and cleaning can get overwhelming.

Hiring a professional cleaning service for your home and office could help you save time, energy, money and will  help keep you focused on the things that matter most.
